Project Sneak Peak: Artist Spotlight

Y'all! This project is so close. It has been such a dream to be a part of. These awesome clients, trusted me to make some wild decisions and I couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome... luckily they are really happy too.

I wanted to go ahead and pop in with some of the details of this project, even though it will be a couple of weeks before all the loose ends are tied up and I will be giving a full tour.

There are just so many lovely artists and makers that we were able to feature in this space and I don't want any of them to get overlooked.  So here we go.

I love Dana Gibson and all the goodness that her brand offers. Her pieces can be seen throughout this space and I love all of them. This ginger jar is just too good and we paired it with vintage treasures along with a miniature masterpiece from one of my favorite artists, Lesley Grainger, who creates the most wonderful colorful abstacts.

Right when you come in the front door, this Taylor Burke honey greets you with her lovely fretwork detail. We set the whole space to a neutral backdrop, using Sherwin Williams, Sea Salt in order to let this beauty really shine!

This shot shows a taste of the smattering of amazing art pieces that my client and I collected for us to work with in this project. It was a dream. Paintings by Michelle Armas, Leslie Weaver, and Marquin Designs paired with Emily McCarthy's fabric for Cotton and Quill and those Jana Bek Lamps that I can't get over.

I can't say enough about Leslie's painted ladies. I seriously want one in every room of my house and every one of each of my client's rooms... but that might be a little much and Leslie might think I am a stalker, so we will exhibit restraint here.

Marquin is a Greenville artist and a lovely person who strives to create a community of women and creatives in our town. She just released a new collection of landscapes and they are absolutely to die for.

I couldn't have asked for a better way to pull all the colors in our scheme together than with this Cotton and Quill fabric designed by Emily McCarthy. We put in on these vintage barstools that can be used for extra seating.

And those Jana Bek lamps. Too too good and Jana is just about as nice as they come. We added some tassels and they just steal the show.

I am so proud of these textile silhouettes. My mom makes these for special people we know and special clients of mine. I still don't think that she understands how rad they are but they are some of my favorite things.

We painted the bookcases in Sherwin Williams Leapfrog and papered the backs with Dana Gibson's Twig paper for Stroheim. That gorgeous elephant is by the talented Evelyn Henson.

We used this indoor/outdoor zebra fabric to make a slipcover for this swivel chair that is used for the family's boys to play video games in. Snacks are allowed so we had to make this chair easy to clean... that didn't mean that it had to be boring, though. When that Cotton and Quill cheetah print is hanging around, it can't get boring.

On the bookcases we featured two fun and whimsical prints from Gray Malin. I adore his work and who wouldn't want to sit around and dream of hanging out at that pool with that giraffe?

I was able to get some major pattern play happening in this room in so many places but especially with the pillows. This Design Legacy pillows with the chinoiserie scene, pulled all the colors together, perfectly.

Last but not least, this lovely piece from Lesley Grainger graces the top of this hutch paired with some vintage paper vases.

There are so many lovely artists and makers that we were able to work with on this project. The art makes this space come alive and it was so so much fun curating this collection to reflect the wonderful people who live in the space.

So, here was the sneak peak. We are just waiting on a few things to come together and then I can't wait to give y'all a full tour of this space that was such a joy to work on.

Happy Tuesday, friends.

Easter Table

Happy Weekend, friends! We are hosting Easter brunch tomorrow and somehow I delegated all the quiche making, the fruit salad making, the muffin making, the cheese plate assembling and I bought a lemon tart. I also set the table, so phew! (Wiping the perspiration from my forehead). For the rest of the weekend, I'm just going to have to lie down.

Last year I got this set of banded white napkins from Crate and Barrel and had them monogramed with our married monogram in white. I love a monogram on the table, but I like it to be discreet. There are 12 different color bands in a set and I bought two sets so for every holiday I mix and match the colors that work best with our table scape. Mark and Graham has some beauties that provide a similar look.

At the end of the summer, we basically stole these bistro chairs for the deck and they work perfectly to bring in for extra seating that isn't bulky around the dining room table. It's always nice when pieces can serve dual purpose. World Market has a great set of two and another perk about these babes, is that they are stackable for easy storage.

I love tablecloths that serve as a colorful backdrop for all the layers of a table. This one was a gift a few years ago from Anthropologie and the matching napkins are still available. I found these vintage Japanese plates at a local thrift store a while back.

For the centerpiece I mixed Daffodils in a teapot and votives for a focal point that isn't overpowering. I added height with these Five Stripes candles and books layered under the teapot. I'll put books under anything.

I hope everyone has a lovely day with friends and family full of beauty and the celebration of Christ's love.

Indigo Market

Thursday we set off for a super speedy trip to our favorite getaway, Charleston. We stayed with some friends at Folly Beach and just one day of fellowship and sun on our faces was enough to make us feel refreshed.

Saturday morning on our way out of town, I had about two hours to hit all my favorite spots. Kevin always knows that he isn't going to get out of Charleston without letting me do some shopping. What a trooper. Anyways, I finally got to visit Indigo Market and it was a dream.

Indigo Market is owned by Liz Lyday and Chrissie Batten who turned their individual treasure businesses into a collective market full of all sorts of vintage goodness. The market is home to Liz and Chrissie's finds, known as The Hunt, along with other vendors, and boy, its allllll good.

I got to meet Liz this past summer when she had some yellow and green chairs that I just had to have. The chairs are permanent residents in my studio now and I still love them so much. The store was full of so many other pieces that are swoon-worthy so heres a little taste of all the goodness that is Indigo Market.

Isn't this a feast for the eyes. Blue and white, spun fiberglass, rattan, lemon hues. Yum, yum, yum and yum.

This vignette has me very inspired for an upcoming project, that you are about to see a lot of.

The acrylic rolling chairs had me gasping for air. Aren't they fantastic?! They would feel right at home in the ALI studio as well. The Market offers everything from furniture, barware, floor coverings, art and all the accessories you can think of. I am so grateful that I got to stop by and soak in all the loveliness.

Here are some of the goodies that I picked up. You know I can't walk past lemons, and this vintage tray is the perfect shade for a special project.

Make sure when you are in Charleston, you stop by and see for yourself this curated shop that is full of the good stuff. Follow these girls on Instagram to see shop happenings and what they have in stock at Indigo Market

Happy happy Sunday, friends!

Color Crush : Green

Whether you love bright hues or not, Spring forces you to embrace them. I am a champion of color on even the most bleak winter day but when the Daffodils start popping up everywhere and the grass turns from brown to the brightest shade of green you've ever seen, I get giddy.

Today, on St. Patty's Day and just an all around beautiful Spring-like day, we are celebrating Spring's most favorite color on the pallet.... GREEN. I am going to share how to insert this hue anywhere and everywhere to make it look like Spring has sprung.

Paint works wonders... and these are a few of my go-to most favorite paint colors to brighten anything up. First up on the left, we have Benjamin Moore's Split Pea. The middle is Benjamin Moore's Sweet Daphne and the top, is Valspar's Privet Hedge.

This lamp was white, and now its green. It makes that plant with brown leaves look more vibrant. Right? Illusions, y'all.

On this porch, I worked on last fall, I popped in painted green pieces paired with rusty corals and they pack a big springy punch.

When working with a mainly neutral space, I love to throw in a bright painted piece of furniture. My team found this hutch on Craigslist and spruced it up with a yummy green. All of our cars will soon be this yummy shade of green, when the pollen arrives. Contain your excitement. Luckily, pollen is one of my favorite colors.

Fabric is really my favorite design component of all time and it is a great tool to impact a space with color. Keeping most of this living room's main elements neutral, I threw in those green chairs for a major pop that can keep these clients feeling springy all year round.

A friend asked me to help her brighten up her living room that was full of great pieces but also full of warm tones. We popped some citrus goodness onto this cane chair that was her grandmothers and it added some new life to the space.

And always... When in doubt on how to brighten things up, pillows are the answer. For any question, pillows are always the answer.

Happy Thursday, friends!

Sunday

Sundays are my jam. They start slow and easy and normally stay that way. Isn't that the best?

This one started just the way I like... with some coffee and a good book. Whenever I need some instant inspiration I open up this bio about Sister Parish. If you haven't read it, get a copy now. She was an incredible woman that did so so much for the world of decorating. A friend reminded me today of the story about how when Sister decorated for Jackie Kennedy at the White House, the press thought that the First Lady had hired a nun. Honest mistake. She is just so inspiring. Just reading descriptions of her rooms makes me want to put chintz everywhere on everything.

So, after getting inspired, I decided to knock out a project that I have been meaning to conquer for months. This plain door to the coat closet has been screaming at me for some love. So I decided to give it just that. Sister was never afraid to jazz something up with paint, so I channeled my inner Sister and got at it.

A couple of months ago I was in Target and needed some paint for a quick project. I picked up a can of this Devine Color paint in the color "compass" and fell in love. I ended up painting our whole bar area with it and I will be sharing that project soon. Anyways, this paint has the richest velvetiest finish so I decided to carry it over onto the coat closet door.

Two hours later, that coat closet was way way happier and so am I! Instant Character.

Happy Sunday, friends.

Saturday Studio Vibes

Saturday Studio Vibes

I love spending Saturdays at the studio. I feel like I can crank so much work out. Today, I finally got these Leslie Weaver ladies hung and I am so pumped that I get to work with them everyday. If you don't know about Leslie Weaver
you need to. I am sure she thinks I am a stalker by now, but I am just crazy in love with all the personality she paints into her ladies.

We've got music playing and the door open today and I am soaking up some inspiration for these upcoming gigs. Starting some fun new projects this upcoming week and have a few wrapping up that I am bummed to see end, but oh so excited to share.

I mean, look at that beautiful lady... and paired with these The Blush Label gorgeous pillows that are waiting on their new home to be ready... yum.

Happy Weekend, Friends!
